STUDI RANCANG BANGUN JARING INSANG DI TELUK AMBON DALAM, MALUKU

Abstract

Designing gill nets for fishing requires a combination of technical skills and practical experience. To achieve optimal catch results, several factors related to gill net construction calculations must be considered. This study aims to describe the design of fishing gill nets used in Inner Ambon Bay. The research was conducted between February and March 2020, in the south of Ambon Island. The observation method was used for data collection, and the technique for designing and constructing drift gill nets was conducted randomly. A preliminary survey was carried out before determining the number of samples to take, in order to obtain information related to drift gill nets and basic gill nets. The buoyancy of both basic and drift gill nets is designed to lift the net's body and withstand the weight of entangled or twisted fish, despite having different net materials, namely monofilament and multifilament.
