PREVALENSI Tubifex sp. YANG TERINFEKSI PARASIT DAN BAKTERI DI BPBAT TATELU, SULAWESI UTARA

Abstract

Tubifex worms are a vital natural food supply for the growth and maturation of fish larvae and fry in freshwater fish hatcheries. Tubifex worms are typically housed in a substrate that contains abundant silt, minimal water flow, and a high concentration of organic matter. When there is a substantial amount of organic matter, tubifex frequently serves as the primary host for numerous bacteria and parasites. The study was conducted at the Health and Environmental Laboratory of the Tatelu Freshwater Fisheries Center in North Sulawesi during the months of April and May 2022. The study aimed to identify the bacterial and parasitic organisms present in Tubifex worms and the culture medium used for their maintenance. Eight rearing tank was randomly sampled, with 16 samples collected, consisting of Tubifex worms and media water. Subsequently, the parasites and A. hydrophila bacteria were identified. Several tests were used to look for parasites and bacteria in the samples. These included urea, motility, indole, citrate, oxidase, catalase, triple sugar iron agar (TSIA), oxidase, and catalase. The results indicated the absence of parasites in all samples. However, bacteria were detected in the samples of Air Media (B1), Tubifex (B2), Air Media (B2), Tubifex (B3), Air Media (B3), Tubifex (B4), Air Media (B4), Tubifex (B5), Air Media (B5), Tubifex (B6), Air Media (B6), Tubifex (B7), Air Media (B7), and Tubifex (B8).
